His Banner Over Us Is Love

1.  "My wife was a wonderful Christian, but I would have no part of it. I drank heavily and smoked five packs of cigarettes a day."

"One morning, after I had made my usual excuses for not going to church, my wife said, 'well, while I'm gone I would like you to read this.' And laid a small magazine on the kitchen table. 'It's just a magazine the janitor of the church gave me,' she explained as she walked out."

"That was the first time I had seen a copy of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship VOICE. I read it, and when she got home I suppose she thought I was having a heart attack. While reading that magazine something had swelled up inside of me and I was hurting so badly. Tears were flowing down my face as I asked her, 'where did you say you got this magazine?' She replied, 'from the janitor of the church.' I said, 'we've got to see that man today!'"

"We found his home, knelt down and prayed together and for the first time in my life I asked Jesus to come into my heart. I've never forgotten the sweetness of His presence at that time."

Voice magazine is a challenge for you to share your testimony and a constant encouragement as you read what God has done for others, knowing that He can do the same for you.

2.  IN GOD'S OWN TIME, HE WILL DELIVER.

The grace of God is sufficient unto me. In February 1994, I was caught up in the Northern conflict, during which time I was the manager of Commercial Bank in Yendi. It all begun when my wife was away in Kumasi, after giving birth to our last child, Erica. I was therefore with two kids and a house-help. This was after I have given my life to Jesus Christ at a Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International meeting at Tamale.

Every effort to get out of the war zone seemed to be impossible since no vehicle moved from Yendi without Military Escort. We were trusting God for His deliverance. After a week of waiting, our Regional Officer could not secure military escort so I decided to join a friend since some military officers were then leaving Yendi for Tamale. The situation was so tensed that the only thing I could do was to keep trusting God for the way out.

On the day of departure, after morning devotion, I had inner feelings that urged me to abandon the trip. My friend took off to Tamale. Barely three hours later, we heard a massage that the convoy to Tamale had been involved in an accident and many people lost their lives. We left Yendi in God’s own time and nothing happened to my family.

God provided a divine security for our lives. Jesus loves my family and you too. It is good to serve the Lord. Why don’t you give your life to Him to manage for you? It is the wisest decision one could ever take.

3.  IT IS JESUS WHO DELIVERS AND HEALS.

I was not a Christian at all. At best I could be described outwardly as “AdHoc” Christian and at most “A hypocritical or cosmetic Christian”. I heard about the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI) when my family and I were in Nigeria in the early 80s I scoffed at their so called breakfast meetings. I considered them elitist and not in tune with characteristics humility of Jesus Christ Himself. When my family returned from Nigeria to Ghana in 1988, we were poisoned to have a good materialistic life and unexpectedly one of our sons was afflicted by strange disease that made him so restless and mentally stressed to the extent that his schooling at Adisadel College was threatened. We were literary under siege by the devil. Medical doctors and “pray for me” consultations could not help.

However, under the atmosphere of Gospel music in a Crusade organised in Takoradi, my son turned to me and said “Dad, I am healed” and that was it. Jesus Christ had healed my son for ever. I could not believe it, but that was how I had my firsthand and direct experience of the healing power and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. My son and I danced to the glory of God.

In a response to an altar call, I and my entire family took a bold step to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour. We have never regretted since then. We were introduced to the FGBMFI and so I joined the Cape Coast Chapter in 1989, and I was one of the core group members who founded the Cape Vas Chapter during which time I was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. I am blessed with a wonderful wife, and children

4. SALVATION FROM TOTAL DESTRUCTION

For lack of knowledge, my people perish. I found this truth, as I searched for solution     to my Daughter’s illness, which the hospital failed to address. We were lead to a      white garment priestess who was acclaimed by a friend to closely commune with       God.  She, after talking to us and reciting some incarnations immediately proclaimed     the illness to be spiritual; she then obliged us to provide different colours of          candles, Florida water, and incense and a live pigeon, if we wanted her to help.       After providing these items and others, which she used to make concoction for us.           I   had to subject myself to late night bathing with cold water by this woman. Brethren,  we later found out that, this woman could not read the Bible but she made a fool of me for lack of knowledge of the Lord’s provisions.

I thank God that in 1987 at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International meeting at UCC cafeteria; I virtually crawled to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Since then, I and my family have come to know the Lord Jesus and his Word and have received love, protection and blessing from Him. I also thank God for my wife who has and continues to be a great partner.

  5. HE TOUCHED ME

The speaker’s first words at the SU rally were “there is someone here whose life and thoughts are all on him self alone”. This is selfishness. Jesus said if you keep your life to yourself you will lose it. If you give it to Him you will live fuller and free and better life for He made you… You may be morally good. If that is GODs standard for righteousness, Jesus would not have come to die. Jesus is God’s standard for righteous living. If you surrender to him, you will have His offer… let me explain this in detail…”

The speaker had opened my life box and there was nothing to hide. So I stood up went forward and prayed for forgiveness, accepted Jesus as my Lord and personal Saviour and thus received the new life on offer there in the Assembly Hall of Prempeh College, Kumasi. From there on, I did not need to wash or drink Florida water that I was told and I believed could make one righteous.

It was the word, the Blood and the spirit of Jesus that I needed as my source of life and guarantee for Heaven.  Then it became a life of service for God: SU camps, Church, Sunday Children service, GHAFES Outreach group to Secondary Schools, Leadership in Joyful way Inc, and founding membership of FGBMFI in Cape Coast and UCC, and speaker at some chapter meetings, founding and leadership of Ola Bethel Presbyterian Church, Cape Coast: marriage counseling with my wife Mary to young and old people and University Students. Membership of CENTRAPEC and fruitful library professional practices

Through it all our family has been exposed to real challenges in life but Christ our Refuge has carried us through by His Hand. He is our reference source. Taste and see!!!
